I grew up by the water and have always felt deeply drawn to it. I’ve loved designing and creating for as long as I can remember. After a series of encounters with a blue heron at my neighborhood marina along the Chesapeake Bay, I began to feel a sense of peace each time I saw it and wanted to understand what it meant.

When I learned that the blue heron symbolizes strength, resilience, patience, self-reflection, and authenticity, it became the inspiration for my logo and the jewelry I had been designing.

I took the wing from the heron logo and wrapped it around a natural gemstone. That became my first Heron Wing pendant, and the beginning of Kimberly James.

As I met women and began hearing their stories, and walked through my own journey with breast cancer, I was continually reminded of the power of resilience, reflection, and connection. It inspired me to create even more meaningful designs, pieces that honor our story, reflect our growth, and empower us to celebrate every step of our journey.
